I have been continuing on with my clinical drug, MDX010, once every three weeks. My fourth and final cycle just took place on Monday, September 8. In two weeks I have a PET/CT full body scan and a brain MRI to see what we can see. If things look OK, then I will remain on the drug, but will receive it once every three months instead of every three weeks.
Also, on August 18, I finished 20 sessions of brain radiation (IMRT). Hopefully that will help scare away any of the pesky little melanoma that had been floating around up there.
The side effects of these two sets of treatments has been relatively minor. The most significant has been fatigue, as I always feel tired and getting up in the morning can be a chore. It takes a lot longer to shake out those cobwebs than it should. Otherwise, I have a slight skin rash over most of my body and I still have the double vision.
Oh yes, and I lost all my hair. But lucky for me, I look good bald. Michelle has been going back and forth on whether to call me Lex Luthor (the younger one on TV) or Moby (the DJ).

If I had to choose, I guess I would choose Moby as I don't want to end up being an archenemy of Superman. I like the good guys!
But you be the judge.

Or I could always shave a little more, get an earring, and go this route:

I think you look the same as you did in high school (except the hair)! You really haven't aged..incredible! Crossing my fingers and saying prayers for you and your family. Hopefully this drug will help...I've heard pretty good things about it from friends at the Farber recently.
Keep on updating us...
Love, Linda

I'd go with the earing! After all, Rich Lyons [who is back at Haas as our new Dean] has one :-) Seriously - all your pals here at Haas have you in our thoughts and prayers.
Thinking of you ...

Hi Richard, Definetly go with the Mr. Clean look! You DO look good bald. Enjoyed your "first day of school" story. I bet it was just as difficult for you (if not more so) as it was for Lilly. It breaks a parents heart when thier children cry. Anyway, I love your sense of humor; they say laughter IS the best medicine. Just want you to know that we think of you often and you and your family are in our prayers. Keep smiling, Love, Aunt Lori
richie your hair was so short back in the day (high school), it was like you were already bald :-) well, except for that dreadful tail - ha! thanks for updating, i was thinking of you. happy belated birthday!
love,
laurie
