ound 1.The nurses check your vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, etc) every 2 hours, day and night. So, within a 2 hour period, I would sleep/read/watch tv, pee in a cup (the nurses want to measure everything that goes into and out of you while are in the TICU), drink, maybe eat. Then repeat for each 2 hour period for the 5 day, 4 night stay. I was definitely ready to go home by day 5. The first thing that I did when I arrived home was take a shower. Best shower I had in a long time!
Sleep, nausea, some acid reflux, pee (but Michelle is not yet making me do so in a cup!), eat a little, watch TV. I had a low white blood count, making me highly susceptible to infection, so I had to stay inside and away from people for most of the week.
Week 3 (at home)
Sleep, less nausea, more acid reflux, dry skin, start losing hair in small patches. I had a surgical procedure to place a port in my chest. The port will replace the need for a regular IV. Eat lots more to try to gain back some/all of the 5 pounds that I lost in week 1-2. And I get to go outside! Yippee!

We are fighting right along beside you. By the way we will be in Berkeley in May and look forward to visiting with you at your convenience. Love, Nancy, Adam, Gabrielle
